ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY

Hello,

I went to the post office the other day to deliver some ebay stuff. While there this cute kid with huge blue glasses was there running around acting like he was an airplane. He had so much energy! A very cool young lad... When I got back home I drew him up quick and then did an illustrator version of him.

Inspiration was low this week for me, not sure why, it just was one of those weeks. So for illustration friday this is my post beacuse i was able to create a "fresh' idea...

Isn't amazing when inspiration will strike...Erik

Good afternoon, First I want to say I am still working on my illustration from last week. I am sorry for no update on that but I found myself scrambling trying to get this awesome illustrator job at the GAP in san Francisco. I should find out sometime this week, crossing fingers....

On too new news.... What a beautifully weekend I had with my girlfriend this last weekend.... Our plans were to go to this all day concert festival on Sunday in golden gate park however Billy IDOL cancelled which really sucked for us because this is the second time somebody cancelled on us, the last one being Morrissey... So the dude at the gate said we could get a full refund so we opted for that....So, we then decided we walk around and explore the city. Here is map of our route from the day...

When we got to Geary street we started getting hungry so we leapt into this cool IRISH BAR named Pig N Whistle.....The mood was very chilled...It was perfect.... Girlfriend had a cheeseburger because she loves them! And I had the fish and chips and a Bass ale beer! Here is a drawing of a guy just relaxing and reading the paper while the 49ners play in the background of the bar.....

As we made our way back from the bar we were entering the park and we needn't to rest, well at least I did since I don't have the city legs like my girl does :) So I sketched this one in the park.....

Well when we made it back to my girl's mom's house we found chicken, mash potatoes and corn waiting for us on the table....Most delicious...mmmmm.....When I was in a comatose state after the five legs of chicken, I drew this while looking out the window on too the beautifully sunset district......

What a day, a beautifully girl on my side all day, chicken, mash potatoes, corn, San Francisco, and the glorious california sun! e

OK........ I'm starting my illustration here, two things you should know about my work is the programs I use. I use zbrush to build my components and then I use photoshop to assemble the pieces together. So I will build the castle separate from the bushes and the composite them in photoshop. This is what I have so far for my illustration. Things are going well, however today will be a little more challenging with building the characters. e

Here are my characters for this illustration one HERO and one Rapunzel...

This illustration is going to be a blast to do!

Happy MONDAY!

This week I am going to show you how I work on my illustrations through my process.
First I think of a concept or theme to work with, that theme being this week will be Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Rapunzel. When i first start sketching out my drawings they are real loose and then after my brain kicks in the magic starts to happen! and my creative side burst out on the page...Lately I am trying to push my perspective and compositions....this have made my illustrations alot stronger....So here is thumbnail I settled on for the illustration.......

ICON4 STAMPS
Check out the ICON 4 Stamps! Each illustrator created a stamp for the conference and then we traded the stamps with each other. Illustrator Alberto Forero was kind of enough too post his collection.... Here is my contribution. It is based off a children book I am working on....enjoy-e
Well its been awhile since I have posted something here and there is a reasonable answer to this, I have been very sick. Yup that right folks some how I have gotten the bug! I have been barely getting any illustration work done or sketching to that matter. I am almost better but I am very weak. Today I am going to make an attempt and try to sketch abit so I can post something up... Also i just wanted to say a prayer to everyone in the gulf. May god bless you in your time of need! You guys will bounce back!

I went to the highland games this weekend with my girlfriend and her best friend celebrating the holiday weekend. The highland games is a fesitival where the scots celebrate there heritage and culture. I was able to create some sketches however those scots do not stay in one place! My first sketch was a of an elderly lady----in the drawing she looks like she is the Queen of England! Pretty funny how it turned out that way.... I am really happy how the young girl in the tree drawing worked out. Just one of those happy accidents all of us artist look for! enjoy - e
